Bridge Construction – goal of the task: developing and designing a bridge, which spans a 50 cm-long gap and a 70-gram steel ball bear without fixed to the ground. Requierements: Exciting – gap of about 50 cm width has to be bridged; Stable – must wear a steel ball; Efficient – is built with little material; Self-supporting – is not attached to the substrate.
The bridge construction is built on the principle of tensegrity. That means, the bridge is supported by the tension. Both rods do not touch each other and are held by the rope forces.
Research and analysis of bridge constructions and Tensegrity refers to tension, ie tension and integrity, wholeness, Togetherness. It refers to the invention of a structural system in which structures stabilize themselves by pressure and tension.
